Birmingham Local Guide

Getting to know Birmingham

The practical bits, sorted. Parking, trains, hospitals, venues and the questions guests ask us most.

Parking

Birmingham has plenty of car parks, but city-centre driving takes a bit of planning.

  • Birmingham has a Clean Air Zone inside the A4540 Middleway ring road. Older, non-compliant vehicles pay a daily charge — check your vehicle on the GOV.UK vehicle checker before you travel.
  • Some of our homes include secure parking; check each listing for details.
  • For NEC events, consider the train to Birmingham International rather than driving.

Getting around

Birmingham is the hub of the UK rail network, and getting around the city itself is simple.

By train

Birmingham New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill stations connect the city to London, Manchester, Bristol, Scotland and beyond.

By tram

The West Midlands Metro runs through the city centre, the Jewellery Quarter and out towards Wolverhampton.

By air

Birmingham Airport sits next to Birmingham International station and the NEC.

By road

The M6, M5, M42 and M40 all meet around the city.

Business travel

From NEC exhibitions to hospital contracts and city-centre offices, Birmingham is a business city first and foremost.

  • Stay central and the NEC is a short train ride from New Street.
  • Every home has fast WiFi and a dedicated workspace.
  • We can provide invoices for company and team bookings.
